The roar of jet engines competed with 20 motorcycles engines stationed outside the USO office early Saturday morning at Terminal 1 at L.A./Ontario International Airport.
The motorcycles were driven by the Patriot Guard Riders who were escorting 70 Army Reservists based in Upland who were being deployed to Afghanistan. "We're here to stand in silence for all of those who are in the military," said Erin Carpenter, the guard's ride captain. The guard's mission is to make sure no soldier is disrespected, said Craig Donor, Southern California coordinator for the rides. "No one will disrespect these people for what they do," he said....... With their mission complete, the riders drove away. Standing to the side were the very soldiers they escorted, taking photos and waving goodbye to them.|
