A controversial swap that will result in the return to Lebanon of five convicted killers will go ahead even though two Israeli soldiers abducted and dragged into Lebanon by Hezbollah two years ago are known to be dead, Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said Sunday. Sometime in the next few weeks, Israel is expected to receive the remains of Eldad Regev and Ehud Goldwasser, whose families campaigned loudly to get them back. Among the five prisoners that Israel is surrendering to Hezbollah are Samir Kuntar, who has been in jail in Israel for nearly 30 years for committing four murders. Within hours after Regev and Goldwater were seized in 2006, Israel attacked Hezbollah strongholds in southern Lebanon. The unexpected war, which lasted more than a month, left more than 1,000 dead, and did not produce a clear winner.
