The soldiers we spoke with say they're happy to get back to their lives in the U.S., but that their time overseas also makes them very grateful.

"We've all been through so much and our families have been through so much. It's the most amazing feeling to be back on U.S. soil with your families. It gives you a whole new appreciation for everything that we have," said Sgt. Jesse Howe.

"I plan on going camping, fishing, sleeping in my own bed for once, getting to know my new little boy and just getting back to normal life," Sgt. Richard Thousand said.

The soldiers had been stationed at the Victory Base Complex in Baghdad.
